What's useful
- Final deliverables: reports, decks and recommendations.
- Models: financial, operational and analytical models, with their workings.
- Drafts and iterations showing how the thinking developed.
- Methods and frameworks your firm uses across engagements.
What qualifies
The listing is for consulting and advisory firms of roughly 10 to 500 employees.
What to check first
- Client ownership. Consulting contracts often give clients ownership of deliverables, or at least confidentiality over them. Your own methods and tools are usually carved out as yours.
- Client confidentiality. Strategy work can be highly sensitive even years later. Anonymisation may not be enough if a client is recognisable from the work.
- Client data inside models. Models often contain clients' financial and operational data, and sometimes personal data about their staff or customers.
- Associates and subcontractors. Work produced by associates may belong to them unless your contracts assign it.
What it's worth
Mercor lists potential company earnings of $150kâ$300k for consulting and advisory firms, depending on what's in scope. That is Mercor's own figure, not a promise or guarantee from us.
Is our methodology worth licensing on its own?
It can be, alongside anonymised examples of it in use. Raise it during scoping.
What if a client is identifiable from the subject matter?
Then the work probably needs the client's permission or should be left out.
